In the first part, you can read about new values, conditions, and opportunities in the new world of work, or as I call it at times, the digitized savanna. In the second part, you’re exploring a savanna of texts and exercises to be seen as tools to being a Cebra. Why? So you succeed, whatever that means to you, in your working life.

Creativity – a state of being

puzzle-210788_1280Definitions of creativity are by numbers at least as many as for health. In order to make it clear to myself what I meant when working with creativity, I had to create a practical definition for creativity as well as I did for health and leadership.

“ A condition in which experience of time and space stops to exist and you’re totally present. Body, emotions, thoughts and soul are fully co-operating and you are. You act and create from within yourself, who you are, and you’re your own authority. What you do is easy, flowing with effort but without fighting. You “just know” and “just do” and experience that everything is synchronized. The pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fall into place.”

The more balanced one is the more creative one becomes. It’s an inner peace, stillness, where one is totally present and energized and doing in being. One is in the essence of creativity, a state of being. It’s an awesome state to be in, and that might be one reason why a vast number of people around the world are trying to reach it by exploring different activities. It’s done with the aim of experience and to stay in the state of enjoyable inner stillness and the feeling of happiness. A state of being that’s non-describable but has to be experienced.

creativity-152714_1280And it’s only from this point, this state of being, where the true leadership emerges. It’s from within, from the inside out, not from the outside in. It’s the empowered leadership.

Health is the base for existence

frog-296971_1280Health, creativity, and leadership are intertwined and are independent interdependent. The core essence of and a base is empowerment that in this context is used with the meaning of “The process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights”. Empowerment can also mean “Authority or power given to someone to do something”.

In the end, it all comes down to a good and sustainable health. This is the base for existence and it’s cost-effective. If not healthy, one’s life is impaired and the quality of life decreases. A bad health leads to an early death and suffering along the way. And it’s unnecessary if one’s health is taken good care of. Of course, we’ll all die eventually but the road there should be as joyful as possible. And good health is a pre-requisite for that.

With a background in sales and marketing I realized in order to work with and sell health-related services including a healthy leadership and how to organize work in a healthy and health-promoting way, I needed to know what I was selling. So I spent some years struggling to find a definition of health that I felt comfortable with and that was practical useful in my work. The one I use today is actually is not so different from the definition of the World Health Organization (WHO), but to me, it’s more of practical use. It’s defined by me and is based on an extensive research from multi-scientific disciplines and by discussions with different professionals working with health-related issues as well as discussions with laymen.

To be healthy and experiencing a good health I define it as:

“You experience a good balance between your body, emotions, thoughts and soul from your pre-conditions. You’re balancing yourself when you in the spur of the moment listen to your needs, not demands, and then, in your way fill them your way, with your methods that suit you the best”

Sleep, bad quality and lack of it, is a problem in the high-speed bis life 3.0. Long-term physiological stress reactions cause an imbalance in the bodily systems and increase the risk of illness and disease. Psychosocial health problems are rising quickly, and one major cause is the high level of experienced stress in bis life 3.0. An increased level of stress has an effect on thoughts, emotions and sprit and all together it affects the ability to be creative. Health is one’s base for existence and is tightly connected to creativity. Especially when it comes to being creative and innovative beyond fighting for survival. And that’s one of the major reasons why it’s crucially important to stay healthy since creativity and to be creative is needed for innovation and development of a sustainable society and business life.

Leadership and empowerment

pin-308802_1280Leadership, creativity and health is intertwined and are independent interdependent. The core essence of and base is empowerment that in this context is used with the meaning of “The process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights”. Empowerment can also mean “Authority or power given to someone to do something”.

Empowered leaders empower people around them they create more leaders and not followers. And that is what defines authentic leadership that’s transparent and honest. To achieve this great communication skills are needed with the crucial talents to listen, listen and listen. And to understand what’s said and to ask the right questions based on what’s communicated from the other person in different ways. To see and engage in and with the person you meet.

In order to work with leadership I needed a practical definition of leadership as a sustainable base for my work. The definition is based on literature and experiences with a focus on sustainable leadership. Once again it puts the spotlight on the importance of, and it’s based on empowerment of people.

In other words you lead yourself on your path, following your inner GPS. You’re present in the state of creative flow and express who you are.”

An empowered leadership that brings out the inner force and power of one self and the people leaders works with, and it is achieved by enhancement of conditions promoting creativity, innovation and health. This will empower and have people use their talents for the best, which in return makes businesses and society successful and sustainable.

So to sum it up: Leaders create leaders more leaders, not followers. Lead words on how to achieve this are authenticity (being who you are), transparency (creates trust, understanding and engagement) and good communication skills.

Business life 3.0

We’re in the midst of the transition from the industrial era transforming into the digitized era where new conditions and opportunities emerge on doing business and into business life 3.0.

Networks and communities are gaining ground as a way to organize work in the digital era. Successful networks and communities are built on participant’s participation. It’s driven by the engagement, passion, and contribution of the people involved in a specific issue and common ground of value. And in the long run, this is what is sustainable.

A sustainable economy, environment, and health are intertwined and merge together with key factors such as empowerment, networking and ‘think globally, act locally. It’s the new, digitized age mindset. This requires a new leadership and work organization that relies on authenticity, transparency and good communication skills and it has to be based on trust.

Through lecturing, doing workshops, coaching, networking writing and debating in different medias I’m sharing mine in-depth knowledge on leadership, health, and creativity in the digitized working life.
