“WIFL – Work In Fake Life – Your guide to the digital work life”(In Swedish, 2013 & 2014 and English 2015), a book and a project spotlighting the new conditions and opportunities that the digitisation of work and business life has created. And that it has a major impact on the change of society and it conditions for being a human. It’s transforming the industrial era into the digitized era and we’re right in the middle of this transition.

IFL (In Fake Life) is a word I came up with while I was writing WIFL  to differentiate the life online, IFL, in an easy way from the commonly used word IRL (In Real Life) – world, meaning the life offline. WIFL is written from a perspective when spending the majority of work hours online. My point with WIFL was to show how the mindset and life in the parallel worlds of IFL and IRL, differed from one another. At least this was true for those of us + 30 years of age that had and still have the mindset that those were two different worlds.

We all live and participate right now in the biggest change in work life since the industrial revolution and that affects work organization, labor market and health at work. Business models are different and that changes the requirements for good leadership and organizations, and how work has to be organized successfully. The demands on the participants at the labor market are changing and that requires that one’s self-confident, driven, responsible and deliver. A recurrent statement from several of the 22 persons interviewed in the book is that: “ Before you went to work, now work is something you do”. The increased level of stress is a major occupational health problem and a consequence of the ability to be, and by many also required by the employer, connected. But for a sustainable health-promoting business life one needs to disconnect to relax so one can recuperate. Sustainable healthy, successful businesses need healthy people in business life 3.0, to stay creative and innovative.
